Equal Parenting Alliance Party: Alternative to C-MEC

Post by Admin on Fri Jun 06, 2008 6:32 am

I am not writing this to promote any sort of political party, merely to inform people about the alternative that Equal Parenting Alliance Party is suggesting to C-Mec. I have read through most it, and I find that it seems like a very reasonable alternative that takes the child(ren) into consideration, and the child(rens) relationship with both parents.. This also captured my eye:
All payments are recorded and, when the child reaches 18, the records are passed to the child (by then an adult of course). It will be apparent who has been paying. The parents will thereby be directly accountable to their child for payments.

and that the Maintenance Payments will be at a set fee (personally I think that a childs needs should be calculated at a certain amount, let's say £150 a month. But I then think maintenance contributions from the NRP should reflect from the parents gathered income... the PWC earns 40% of gathered income [PWC + NRP) then the PWC should contribute £60 a month, and the NRP who in this example earns 60% of gathered income should contribute £90 a month. If the parents cannot afford this, then Child Benefit should make up for the rest.)

Anyway... it makes for interesting reading:
