Overnight reduction in child maintenance?
I am sure there are places that explain the overnight reduction in child maintenance, but I haven't read it, nor have any plans to seek it out, as clearly it is unfair and wrong!
If a PWC has a child for 4 days (meaning 4 x 24 hours) a week and the NRP has the child for 3 days a week, then why would the NRP only get a 3/7th take off their child maintenance to pay?
If all was just and fair the NRP should only be paying 1/7th of the child maintenance assesment... as there would only be ONE day the child would reside more at the PWC.
I'm sure the CSA will argue that the PWC will still have outgoings regarding the child even when the child is not there (as mortgage and electricity... but the PWC will need a place to stay and electricity whether the child is there or not!), and clearly the NRP also have the exact same outgoings!
Also holidays really get to me... as QCs will often spend several weeks at NRPs (often whitout it gathering up enough overnights to qualify for a reduction in CM). Lets say one child spends 4 weeks with the NRP over summer. The PWC will still recieve CB and CM. So not only is the NRP out of pocket for the CM (which could have come to good use), but the PWC is neither contributing towards the child, so in fact the PWC is MAKING money by not having the child there, still recieving CM, not paying anything towards the child themself for the duration the CQ is staying at NRPs... and to top it off will still be recieving CB! Leaving NRPs often without any money to do anything with the child... and lets not forget that a lot of PWCs refuse to send clothes with the child (and toothbrushes) and the NRP also have to buy that... with money they do not have due to them still having to pay CM to the PWC (who do not have the child), not recieveing any CM from the PWC, nor recieving any help from the government.
